Zimbabwe Sets New Record for Highest T20I Total

Zimbabwe stunned the cricketing world by posting the highest total in men’s T20I history, smashing 344/4 against the Gambia in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier Group B in Nairobi. This broke the previous record held by Nepal, who scored 314/3 against Mongolia in 2023.

Leading the charge was Sikandar Raza, who blazed his way to an unbeaten 133* off just 43 balls. Raza's power-hitting display featured 12 sixes and nine boundaries, helping him notch the fastest century by a batter from a Test-playing nation, reaching 100 in just 33 balls. This achievement eclipsed the record previously held by South Africa's David Miller, who scored a century off 35 balls against Bangladesh in 2017.

Tadiwanashe Marumani also provided a fiery start, scoring 62 off 19 balls. Clive Madande (53* off 17) and Ryan Burl (25 off 11) kept the runs flowing, as Zimbabwe dismantled Gambia’s bowling attack, with Andre Jarju’s 2/53 being their best effort.

Zimbabwe has won all three of their matches in the African Sub-Regional qualifier and are pushing to secure a spot in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup in India.
