Ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Proteas fast bowler is expected to recover from his injury

Lungi Ngidi, the fast bowler from South Africa, has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to an injury.

Ngidi suffered a lower back injury while playing for Paarl Royals during the playoffs of the SA20 last month. As he continues to recover, he will not be able to play for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming season of the IPL. He also withdrew from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to the same reason.

As his replacement, Delhi Capitals have announced the signing of Australian all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk. Jake was selected for the 2020 ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup in South Africa as part of Australia's squad.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that Ngidi is expected to return to action in a domestic competition in April. This puts him in contention to play for the Proteas in the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.

Ngidi was ruled out of the T20I series against India in December last year with a left lateral ankle sprain but made a comeback in the final Test of the series.
