Rohit Sharma hopes to get used to the New York pitch quickly

On Saturday, Team India will play a warm-up match against Bangladesh, allowing them to assess the pitch's characteristics and general circumstances.

India captain Rohit Sharma marvelled at the recently built Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York and emphasised the need for his side fast acclimatising to the pitch and circumstances before their T20 World Cup starts on June 5 against Ireland. Nonetheless, when they play Bangladesh in a practice match on Saturday, Rohit and company will have an opportunity to assess the pitch's characteristics and general circumstances. Additionally, it's India's only practice match before the major ICC event.

From an Indian standpoint, the warm-up game is crucial because their matches begin at 10.30 AM local time, and the players need to adjust to playing during the day after spending the previous two months playing in the IPL under lights.

"We're looking to understand the conditions more importantly (before the tournament proper) as we haven't been here before," Rohit told ICC.

The Mumbaikar emphasised that he intended to utilise this side game as a springboard and that his team has to establish a "rhythm" before the actual action begins.

"(We will) try and make the most of the conditions, get used to what it's going to be like on June 5 when we play our first game," he added.

The Indians' task will be to adjust to this place's drop-in turf, which is something they don't encounter frequently in international cricket.

"It's just about getting into that rhythm of getting the feel of the ground, pitch and stuff like that," he said.

Along with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel, Rohit was a member of the first group of Indian cricket players to arrive on May 26.

Rohit made time to appreciate the venue's beauty in addition to the match procedures.

"It looks beautiful. It's quite an open ground. When we come here and play our first game, I just can't wait to feel the atmosphere in the stadium," he said.

"It's a decent capacity as well. Hopefully, it's going to be a good one." Rohit hoped that fans would throng the venue for their matches. "People in New York will be very interested in coming and watching the World Cup, as it is happening for the first time here.”

"I'm pretty sure all the fans across various teams are quite excited and looking forward to this tournament. And also as players (we) can't wait to get started," he noted.
