Chris Gayle, also known as 'The Universe Boss', has predicted that MS Dhoni will not play every match in the 2024 IPL. According to Gayle, Dhoni may take a rest in the middle of the tournament, which is why he passed the Chennai Super Kings' captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad before the season started.
Gayle reassured fans that there is no need to panic as Dhoni seems fit, although he may sit out for a few games this season.
It is worth noting that the wicketkeeper battled a knee injury in 2023. The five-time IPL-winning captain has returned for the 17th season despite speculation of his retirement last year.
He has handed Gaikwad the responsibility of helping to shape the franchise going forward. Last Friday, as he moved nimbly behind the wicket with little difficulty, any doubts about Dhoni's fitness were dispelled. As he ran out Anuj Rawat off the last ball of RCB's innings in the opening match of IPL 2024, his long hair framed the moment perfectly.
Dhoni will bat at the no. 7 or 8 slots, allowing him to assess the performance of others in the batting unit.
