Rishabh Pant scored his first half-century since returning to active cricket, leading Delhi to a 20-run victory over Chennai.
Pant's 51 off 32 balls helped Delhi reach 191-5 in 20 overs on a friendly surface.
Ajinkya Rahane scored 45 off 30 for Chennai, while MS Dhoni rolled back the years with a 16-ball 37 not out. Chennai was bowled out for 171-6, but it was not enough.
Delhi had a great start with Prithvi Shaw (43 off 27) and David Warner scoring 93 in almost 10 overs for the first wicket. Warner scored 52 off 35 deliveries, hitting five sixes and nine fours.
But Delhi lost wickets at regular intervals as they were dismissed in quick succession. Pant held one end together and found form after a long break from cricket due to a life-threatening car crash.
The Delhi captain hit four fours and three sixes to boost his team's score from 134-4 in 15 overs to a total that exceeded expectations.
Chennai struggled in response, losing both openers Ruturaj Gaikwad (1) and Rachin Ravindra (2) cheaply, leaving them at 7-2 in 2.5 overs.
Rahane led the fightback, hitting five fours and two sixes, while Daryl Mitchell contributed 34 off 26, putting on 68 runs with Rahane.
Chennai lost their momentum after the dismissal of the duo and left a lot of work to be done by Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja (21 not out) at 120-6 in 16.1 overs.
They put on 51 runs off only 23 balls for the unbeaten seventh wicket. Dhoni hit four fours and three sixes to entertain the packed Visakhapatnam crowd.
But Delhi had enough runs on the board to ensure their first win of the season. Five wickets for 42 runs were shared by medium pacers Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed in seven overs.
Chennai dropped to second place in the points table, with Kolkata Knight Riders at the top on net run-rate.
