Dinesh Karthik, who has been one of the top performers for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League 2024, has written an unwanted record. He was dismissed without troubling the scorers against Delhi Capitals in Bengaluru.
He has overtaken Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell on the list of the most capped players in the history of the cash-rich league. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman has 18 ducks to his name, one more than Sharma and Maxwell.
Most ducks in the history of the IPL:
Dinesh Karthik – 18
Rohit Sharma – 17
Glenn Maxwell – 17
Piyush Chawla – 16
Sunil Narine – 16
Maxwell has been the tournament's worst performer so far. The all-rounder has scored 36 runs in eight matches for RCB. The management has dropped him from the playing XI.
On the other hand, Rohit has failed to end his slump with the bat. Apart from a hundred against Chennai Super Kings, the veteran has been below par. He has been used as an impact sub in the last two matches. The right-handed batsman has scored 349 runs in 13 matches.
Meanwhile, Karthik's absence didn't affect RCB as the hosts defeated the Capitals by 47 runs to record their fifth straight win of the season. The Bengaluru-based franchise posted 187/9 in their 20 overs. Delhi were bowled out for 140 runs.
RCB remains in the hunt for a play-off spot.
