During the third Test between India and England in Rajkot, R Ashwin left the game mid-way to be with his family due to his mother-in-law's illness.
Ashwin's wife, Prithi Narayanan, spoke to The Indian Express about the episode and how it started after he reached the 500-wicket mark in Test cricket. Their daughters, Akhira and Aadhya, had returned from school and were watching their father's milestone moment. Prithi and other family members were receiving messages from loved ones.
She said:
“I saw aunty getting collpased and we were in hospital in no time. We had decided not to tell Aswhin as there was no good flight connectivity between Rajkot and Chenna.”
