Virat Kohli is widely regarded as one of the best batters of his generation, having scored over 24,000 runs in 522 matches for India across formats. He is a genuine match-winner, and with him at the crease, it is difficult for opponents to secure a victory. However, former India player Praveen Kumar believes that Rohit Sharma is the most dangerous batter.
According to Praveen, while Kohli can be dismissed easily, things are different with Rohit.
Kumar played in six Tests, 68 ODIs, and 10 T20Is for the Indian national team. He has represented several teams in the Indian Premier League, including Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Lions. Praveen has played with both Virat and Rohit in the Indian national team.
He told Shubhankar Mishra:
“Rohit plays late. I have to bowl to Virat Kohli and it is easy to dismiss him and catch him. I am talking about the earlier times. It is difficult now. Rohit can also be caught or dismissed. But I think Rohit Sharma is a more dangerous batter than Virat.”
The ex-player criticised Hardik Pandya for missing the Ranji Trophy games and called for the BCCI to take action against him for not prioritising red-ball matches. He accused the Indian Cricket Board of having different rules for different players and suggested that Hardik should commit in writing to focusing solely on white-ball formats and not playing Test cricket.
