Former MI pacer names two players whose absence has had an impact on title challengers

Former New Zealand bowler Mitchell McClenaghan said CSK was missing the bowling of Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana. While the Bangladesh pacer has been rested for the Zimbabwe game, Pathirana has been ruled out due to injury.

At the Narendra Modi Stadium, CSK lost to Gujarat Titans. The home side was bowled out at 231 for 3.

The opening pair of GT captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan went on a rampage against the CSK bowlers, adding 210 runs for the first wicket in 17.2 overs. Tushar Deshpande dismissed both openers in the eighteenth over, but the damage had already been done. Reflecting on CSK's abysmal bowling performance, McClenaghan said that Mustafizur and Pathirana could have stopped the onslaught of GT batsmen:

“CSK missed the effective bowling of Pathirana and Mustafizur and their ability to take wickets. You would have sensed that they would have found a way on a wicket like that.”

The former Mumbai Indians pacer added that it was not ideal for CSK to give Daryl Mitchell 4 overs. Mitchell finished with figures of 4-0-52-0 after a difficult day with the ball. He scored 63 off 34 with the bat.

CSK was restricted to 196 for 8 in their 20 overs. The Super Kings are fourth on the points table with 12 points.
