Former Indian player Sourav Ganguly has refused to accept Sunil Gavaskar's assessment that Dhruv Jurel is the next MS Dhoni in the making. Gavaskar claims that the young wicket-keeper has the attributes of the most successful Indian captain.
Jurel has impressed everyone with his glove work and batting, taking sensational catches and playing match-winning innings in the two Test matches so far.
For his part in India's victory over England in the fourth Test in Ranchi, the young opener was named Player of the Match.
His scores of 90 and 39 not out were instrumental in keeping the host nation ahead despite England's fightback.
Ganguly praised the wicketkeeper but advised against making comparisons and encouraged him to continue playing.
He stated:
“He is no MS Dhoni and let him play. I was impressed with how he has conducted himself in two Tests. See, it took 15 to 20 overs for MS Dhoni to become MS Dhoni.
According to Sourav Ganguly, Yashasvi Jaiswal is a player who can perform in all three formats of the game.
The former President of the BCCI praised Yashasvi Jaiswal for his outstanding performance against England. Jaiswal, a left-handed batsman, has scored 655 runs in four Tests, including two double centuries.
