Gautam Gambhir stated that it was his "honour" to become an ICT head coach and appreciated the importance of the position.
Gautam Gambhir, the coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders, has described it as his "honour" to lead the Indian Cricket Team (ICT) in the future and has said that he would "love to coach ICT." Gambhir is reportedly the front-runner for the position. The ICT team post is definitely within the control of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), as Rahul Dravid's term will end following the T20 World Cup in 2024.
"I have not answered this question, although many have asked me. But I have to answer you now. I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no bigger honour than coaching your national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians and those across the globe as well," said Gautam Gambhir, during a session with students at an event at the Medeor Hospital in Abu Dhabi.
Under the guidance of former Indian World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir, the Kolkata Knight Riders destroyed and dominated the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. Under Gambhir's guidance, KKR only dropped three games during the entire season and excelled in all areas, whether on the field, with the bat, or with the ball. In their quest to win the championship, KKR made history by holding runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad to the lowest first-innings total in IPL finals history. KKR were multiple 10+ wicket-takers, run scorers, and match-winners.
It is undeniable that Gambhir, 42, would be an excellent choice for the position of ICT head coach given that he has now won the IPL as a player and a consultant.
