Is Gautam Gambhir the next head coach of the Indian cricket team? The rumour is growing more and more persistent by the day. According to BCCI secretary Jay Shah, all signs point to an Indian coach taking over as head coach on July 1, 2024, replacing Rahul Dravid. On paper, nevertheless, there is a complete lack of information regarding the applicants for the top position. The formal application deadline for the position of coach of the Indian cricket team has passed. The deadline for applying to become the next coach for India was Monday.
Cricbuzz published a report that included specifics about potential background activities. The journal was informed that Gautam Gambhir's appointment as the coach of the Indian cricket team is a "done deal and the announcement will come soon" by a "very high-profile owner of an IPL franchise, who is very close to the BCCI top brass." Additionally, it stated that they were informed by a "high profile commentator" that significant attempts are being made to involve the KKR mentor.
The newspaper did note, though, that the lack of an official announcement suggests that negotiations are still ongoing on several fronts, "between the two parties and, perhaps, with some others too."
The paper went on to detail the difficulties Gambhir might have had before accepting the position. According to the article, if Gambhir takes over as the Indian cricket team's coach, he won't be allowed to pursue other roles. Gambhir is a TV expert and a very successful mentor/coach in the IPL. It went on to say that Gambhir might be affected by the demanding nature of the Indian cricket team coach's work, which necessitates living outside the box for about ten months of the year. The hero of the Indian cricket team in the past had a little family. According to the article, Gambhir is thought to have taken five breaks throughout his two-month IPL 2024 stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders.
The report did, however, also state that Gambhir, who is very patriotic, will receive a significant boost when he becomes a coach for the Indian squad. Gambhir is reportedly "weighing all options."
