Hardik Pandya is set to become the first cricketer to surpass MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma

Hardik Pandya will captain Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2024, replacing Rohit Sharma. He returned to his former franchise after an all-cash deal with Gujarat Titans.

If he leads Mumbai Indians to victory, he will become the first captain to win titles with two different franchises. Hardik led Gujarat to the title in 2022, so a win for Mumbai Indians this year would be his entry into the record books.

Currently, no player has won the IPL title as captain with different franchises. Rohit and Dhoni have led MI and CSK to five titles, respectively. Gautam Gambhir has led KKR to the IPL title on two occasions, while Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist, Pandya, and David Warner have each won one title as skippers.

On March 24, MI will play their first game against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Mumbai-based franchise has a plethora of match winners.

Final squad of the Mumbai Indians:
Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Dewald Brevis, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (Traded from GT), Tim David, Arjun Tendulkar, Kumar Kartikeya, Jason Behrendorff, Akash Madhwal, Vishnu Vinod, Romario Shepherd, Shams Mulani, Nehal Wadhera, Piyush Chawla, Gerald Coetzee, Dilshan Madhushanka, Shreyas Gopal, Nuwan Thushara, Naman Dhir, Anshul Kamboj, Mohammad Nabi
