Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins was in stellar form, picking up a hat-trick against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup 2024. Playing at Antigua on Friday, June 21, Cummins rocked the Bangladesh batting line-up late in the innings with the T20 World Cup 2024's first hat-trick. Cummins matched Brett Lee, becoming just the second Australian player to achieve this feat in the T20 format of the ICC tournament.
After a shaky start, conceding 12 runs in his first over, Cummins made a remarkable comeback. Utilising the conditions effectively in the latter part of the innings, he removed Mahmudullah and Mahedi Hasan in the final two balls of the 18th over and then dismissed Towhid Hridoy on the first ball of the final over of Australia's bowling innings.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) posted a video of Cummins' heroics on their Instagram channel soon after he completed his feat.

Pat Cummins has rapidly ascended in stature since becoming Australia's captain in the Test and ODI formats. He has led Australia to victories in the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup by beating India. While he did not take up the captaincy in the T20I format, Cummins continued to contribute significantly as a player. His hat-trick is a promising sign for Australia as they aim to cover all bases entering the latter stages of the tournament.
