“MS Dhoni to leave CSK captaincy mid-way in IPL 2024”
Ambati Rayudu commented on MS Dhoni's captaincy in the Indian Premier League 2024. Rayudu suggested that Dhoni could occasionally relinquish the CSK captaincy to allow someone else to lead the side.
There is speculation that Dhoni may retire after the 17th season.
Rayudu made these comments during an interview on Star Sports' 'Press Room'. He also suggested that with the Impact Player Rule in place, Dhoni could take a back seat and promote someone as a skipper in the middle of the season.
Rayudu labelled IPL 2024 as the season of transition for the five-time champions if Dhoni decides to bid adieu. He added that Dhoni would continue to lead the side if he decides to play a few more seasons.
“Dhoni will take a back seat with the Impact Player Rule to allow someone else to lead the side during the middle of the season. This is going to be a year of transition for CSK. If Dhoni decides to play for a few more seasons, he would captain the side. I want to see him as a skipper.”
Ambati stated that Dhoni would play all matches, even if he was unfit. The former player was quick to point out Dhoni's commitment to the game despite a knee injury last season.
