Jemimah Rodrigues consoled Richa Ghosh after the latter was left in tears following Royal Challengers Bangalore's one-run defeat against Delhi Capitals in WPL 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Richa sat on the pitch in disbelief after being run out on the last ball of the match. Jemimah approached her and offered words of encouragement:
“She was in tears and I felt for her. I was happy that my team Delhi Capitals won the match but I was feeling for Richa. I told her that such situations will come in the future as well and urged her to hit winning runs for India in the World Cup final.”
RCB required 17 runs from the final 6 balls. Richa struck two sixes off Jess Jonassen, reducing the target to 2 runs from 1 ball. However, she was run out while attempting a single. Ghosh scored 51 runs from 29 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes, but the Challengers fell short in their pursuit of the 182-run target.
Jemimah scored 58 runs off 36 balls and expressed her belief that Richa would develop as a cricketer by scoring runs under pressure.
