Karun Nair, the former Indian cricketer, is on the path to making a remarkable comeback after a seven-year absence from international cricket. In recent times, Nair has rekindled his batting prowess, amassing impressive runs playing for Vidarbha and Northamptonshire. During the past year, he has adopted a focused approach, emphasising the importance of taking each opportunity as it comes without getting bogged down by future expectations.
Nair’s comeback began to take shape in early 2023 when he played in the English county circuit, where he scored 249 runs in three matches, averaging 83 with a century against Surrey. Following this, he continued his form with Vidarbha, scoring 690 runs in 10 matches, including two centuries, and was pivotal in their journey to the Ranji Trophy semifinals. Despite past frustrations regarding playing time in his home state of Karnataka, his move to Vidarbha proved timely and essential for his career resurgence.
Reflecting on his journey, Nair speaks about the lessons learned from facing the moving ball in England, which has contributed to his growth as a batsman.
