Sciver-Brunt was dismissed by an arm ball from Gayakwad that skidded through, while Harmanpreet missed her heave across the line against Thakor. In just 27 balls, Mumbai lost three wickets before the death overs. With Kerr and S Sajana, they had the batters to finish the innings.
Kerr has been in good form with the bat and is Mumbai's top run-scorer this season. She manoeuvred the ball skillfully to pick up boundaries, going deep in her crease to cut length balls and moving across to access the area behind the square leg, keeping Mumbai ticking along. She should have been caught at cover on 34 off 19, but Ecclestone couldn't hold on.
Sajana, who started her WPL career with a first-ball six in the opening game, slogged one through deep-backward square leg for four before a misfield at long-on gave her another boundary. In the last over, she hit consecutive fours off Ecclestone. Mumbai scored 38 runs in the last four overs, and their partnership was worth 43 runs in just 26 balls.
