Kieron Pollard has called for respect and support for Hardik Pandya from MI's batting coach

Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard has expressed his frustration at the way fans have singled out certain players for the team's defeats. In a recent match against Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya struggled with his line and length in the final over, which allowed CSK legend MS Dhoni to hit three successive sixes and take 26 runs off the over. Pandya also bowled two wides at a crucial moment. Pollard believes that individual players should not be scapegoated for team failures.

Despite struggling and finishing with figures of 2/43 from his four overs, Pandya's contribution should not be overlooked. Similarly, although he had difficulty batting and only managed two runs off six balls, Dhoni's barrage of three sixes and two runs off the final delivery played a crucial role in CSK's victory. Hardik also praised MSD for his contributions to the team's bowlers.

“Pandya is an optimistic individual. He’s been excellent with the group. There are good days and bad days in cricket. I’m witnessing someone who is putting in a tremendous effort for the success of Mumbai Indians.”

The ex-West Indies all-rounder reminded fans that Pandya could be selected for India's T20 World Cup squad. He added that everyone would be praising him if he were chosen.

During the game, Pandya received boos from the crowd due to his poor performance with both bat and ball. Former England captain Kevin Pietersen criticised Pandya, stating that the Mumbai skipper was 'smiling too much'. In response, Pollard expressed his belief that Pandya is evolving as a player and supported him to improve.
