Ahead of IPL 2024, KKR star batsman Rinku Singh accidentally hit a budding cricketer on the forehead during a practice session on Tuesday 12 March. A video of the incident was posted by KKR in which Rinku was seen immediately going up to the child to apologise. KKR batting coach Abhishek Nayar also offered the child a Kolkata Knight Riders cap as the boy even asked Singh to sign it.

Rinku was a standout star in the KKR line-up during the 2023 IPL season. The Uttar Pradesh batsman had the opportunity to play a full season of IPL for the first time and put in a sensational performance. Rinku's performance in the tournament made him a household name and led to his selection by the Indian team as a specialist finisher. Rinku was KKR's leading run-getter in the tournament with 474 runs in 14 matches.
Since his debut for India, Rinku has been in incredible form. The left-hander has scored 356 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of 176.23. Rinku has an average of 89 for India and has recently scored two half-centuries.
The batsman is expected to be selected by the Indian team for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli is also expected to play in the T20 World Cup, with Rohit Sharma captaining India. India will begin their campaign against Ireland on 5 June.
