Legendary India batter accuses Gautam Gambhir of immaturity after claiming MS Dhoni destroyed his international career

Manoj Tiwary, a 38-year-old retired cricketer, discussed his playing years and recounted an unpleasant incident with former KKR captain Gautam Gambhir during a Ranji Trophy match nine years ago.

During a match between Bengal and Delhi, Tiwary had an altercation with Gautam Gambhir, who was fielding at first slip. Tiwary later expressed regret over the incident, stating that he values respect for his seniors and is not one to engage in fights. He acknowledged that he lost his cool at that moment and that the incident had a negative impact on his image.

Tiwary and Gambhir shared the same dressing room for four years while playing together for KKR from 2010-13. Tiwary regrets the fight with Gambhir during the Ranji Trophy, despite their great bond and frequent discussions in Kolkata.

However, Manoj Tiwary is one of the few cricketers who accused the legendary skipper of destroying his international career.

Recently retired from first-class cricket, Tiwary has made significant statements.

He urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to scrap the Ranji Trophy. This resulted in him being fined 20 per cent of his match fee.

To criticise Dhoni in another statement, he compared himself to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

He passed the 10,000-run mark for Bengal in 148 first-class matches. He represented India in 12 ODIs, scoring 287 runs with the help of one century. He was not considered for selection for a long time when Dhoni was the captain. Tiwary returned to the playing XI under Ajinkya Rahane’s leadership in 2015.

The right-handed batsman also played in three T20Is but did not make a significant impact.
