Dhoni has won five IPL titles and lifted the now-defunct Champions League T20 twice. In all tournaments, he has captained the Chennai-based franchise in 235 matches. Dhoni also led Rising Pune Supergiant in 14 matches in 2016 and 2017, when CSK was suspended for two years.
He was the captain of Chennai in 226 IPL contests, placing him above former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma (158) in terms of captaincy.

Notably, Dhoni’s win-loss ratio is the third-best in the Indian Premier League. Among skippers who have led franchises in 20 or more matches in the cash-rich league, his win-loss ratio of 1.461 is lower than that of Hardik Pandya (2.444) and Steve Smith (1.470).
