Former head coach of the Indian cricket team, Rahul Dravid, was recently spotted in Paris, cheering on the Indian athletes at the Paris Olympics 2024. Known for his dedication to sports, Dravid's presence has been a source of inspiration for the Indian contingent.
Dravid attended the India vs Argentina hockey match in the Pool B category on July 29, and also watched the Indian men’s doubles pair, Rohan Bopanna and N Sriram Balaji, compete in their first-round match on July 28. His support did not go unnoticed, as photos of him in the stands quickly went viral, capturing the attention of fans and media alike.
During his time in Paris, Dravid visited the India House, a special venue set up for Indian athletes and fans. In a panel discussion there, he highlighted the remarkable journey of Manu Bhaker, who won a bronze medal in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol event, India's first medal at the Games. Dravid praised Bhaker's resilience and hard work, especially after facing setbacks in previous competitions. He emphasised the long-term dedication and perseverance required in sports, noting the significance of such achievements.
Dravid, who recently concluded his tenure as India's head coach, left a lasting impact by guiding the team to victory in the T20 World Cup 2024. This triumph ended India's 11-year ICC Trophy drought, with a memorable win against South Africa in the final.
The former cricketer's continued support for Indian sports beyond cricket showcases his commitment to nurturing and encouraging talent across various disciplines.
