Rajasthan Royals completed a hat-trick of victories in the IPL 2024 by beating Mumbai Indians by six wickets

Seamer Trent Boult and leg-spinner Yzvendra Chahal led their teams to victory in the Indian Premier League on Monday.

Boult took 3-22 and Chahal 3-11 to restrict Mumbai to 125-9.

Rajasthan chased down the target with ease, winning by six wickets with 27 balls to spare. Riyan Parag top-scored with an unbeaten 54.

With this win, Rajasthan moved to the top of the league table, while Mumbai suffered their third consecutive loss.

Mumbai was asked to bat first at Wankhede Stadium and was struggling at 20-4 in 3.3 overs. Boult took two wickets in the first over, dismissing Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir for first-ball ducks.

Mumbai made an immediate substitution, replacing Dhir with Dewald Brevis, who was also out for a first-ball duck. Boult had three wickets in just 10 deliveries.

Rajasthan missed the opportunity to review an LBW decision before Brevis' dismissal, which could have resulted in Ishan Kishan's departure. Instead, Kishan was caught behind off Nandre Burger seven balls later. He scored just 16 runs.

Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya, who was once again booed by the home fans during the toss, and Tilak Varma managed to revive Mumbai by adding 56 runs in just 36 balls.

Unfortunately, their efforts were short-lived as Chahal dismissed Pandya for 34 off 21 and Varma for 32 off 29. Piyush Charma was also dismissed, and Chahal ended up taking three wickets, causing Mumbai to crash to 95-7.

During Rajasthan's batting, Akash Madhwal, a young pacer from Mumbai, took 3-20.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was caught by Kwena Maphaka, while Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson were removed by Madhwal. Ishan Kishan could also have been dismissed, but Rajasthan did not review an lbw decision before Brevis' dismissal. Kishan was caught behind off Nandre Burger seven balls later, on 16.

Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya, who was booed again by the home fans at the toss, and Tilak Varma added 56 runs off 36 balls to revive Mumbai.

But their efforts were thwarted by Chahal. Pandya was dismissed for 34 off 21, followed by Varma for 32 off 29, both caught out. Piyush Charma was also dismissed, and Chahal took three wickets, resulting in Mumbai crashed to 95-7.

During Rajasthan's batting, Akash Madhwal, a young pacer from Mumbai, took 3-20.

The hosts never had a chance as Yashasvi Jaiswal was caught off Kwena Maphaka, and Madhwal removed Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson.

In the seventh over, Rajasthan was 48-3, and although a comeback was envisioned, Parag quickly thwarted it by unleashing five fours and three sixes.

Parag achieved his second straight half-century, racing to 50 off 38 balls.
