The Afghanistan vs Bangladesh T20 World Cup Super 8 match was highly anticipated, marking Afghanistan's historic entry into the semi-finals. Needing a win to advance, Rashid Khan's team maintained their poise in a rain-affected, low-scoring encounter to eliminate both Bangladesh and Australia from semi-final contention.
The match also sparked controversy when Afghanistan's Gulbadin Naib appeared to feign injury after coach Jonathan Trott signalled to slow down play, with Afghanistan ahead on DLS. Naib's actions drew criticism on social media, with accusations of 'cheating' levelled against Afghanistan.
Responding to the incident, Rashid Khan commented, "Well, he had some cramp, I don't know what happened to him and I don't know what's going on in social media, but that doesn't matter - it's just the end field injury which comes, and then we haven't lost any overs, the rain came, and we just went off, it's not something like brought a massive difference in the game. We came back on the field after five minutes and there was no massive difference. For me, it's just like a small injury comes in, then you have to take some time."
