Royal Challengers Bengaluru responded fittingly to former spinner Murali Kartik's inappropriate remark about RCB pacer Yash Dayal during the RCB vs Punjab Kings IPL 2024 match on March 25. Kartik had said, 'Someone's trash is someone's treasure' while commentating.
Fans criticised Kartik for his insensitive comment. Meanwhile, RCB praised Dayal for his impressive performance at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The franchise based in Bengaluru responded with applause.
He’s treasure. Period. ❤🔥 pic.twitter.com/PaLI8Bw88g

Dayal was released by the Gujarat Titans in December, and RCB purchased him for INR 5 crore in the auction. Although he had struggled in 2023, conceding five consecutive sixes to Rinku Singh of the Kolkata Knight Riders, he was in top form against the PBKS side. He scalped the valuable wicket of Sam Curran and ended with impressive figures of 4-0-23-1, making him RCB’s most economical bowler and helping to restrict Kings to 176-6 in 20 overs.
After being sent in to bat first, opening batsman Dhawan scored 45 runs off 37 balls for Kings XI Punjab. Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell each took 2 wickets for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph accounted for the crucial wicket of the in-form Liam Livingstone.
Chasing 177 runs, RCB had a poor start, losing Faf du Plessis and Cameron Green quickly. However, Virat Kohli kept RCB in the game with a brilliant 77 off 49 balls before being dismissed by Harshal Patel.
Ultimately, it was Dinesh Karthik who led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to victory, scoring 28 runs off just 10 balls to secure the win with 4 balls remaining.
