Rishabh Pant is focused on the present and not overly concerned about the future. After receiving a fitness certificate from the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, his immediate goal is to play for Delhi Capitals in the 2024 Indian Premier League.
The left-handed batsman was sidelined from cricket for 15 months following a serious car accident. After undergoing months of rehabilitation, he is now fully prepared to return to the sport.
Playing for Team India or targeting the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 or the Test series in Australia for his comeback to international cricket hasn't crossed his mind.
During his appearance on the Club Prairie Fite's podcast, he sounded confident when asked about his plans for the World Cup and the Test matches Down Under by his idol, Adam Gilchrist:
“I don’t want to look into the future. I missed the banters between the teammates and the dressing room environment when I was recovering at home. You can’t get all these while sitting at home. I want to go out on the ground and see how I play.”
DC will need to handle Pant with care as his body is still adjusting to cricketing action, and the batter requires time before reaching his best.
