“He will go miles in his career”
Delhi Capitals' regular skipper, Rishabh Pant, who is set to feature for DC in IPL 2024, praised Yashasvi Jaiswal for his exceptional performance in the 5-match Test series against England.
Jaiswal scored an impressive 712 runs at an average of 89 and a strike rate of 79.91, including 2 centuries and 3 half-centuries. Notably, he scored double centuries in the second and third Tests held in Vizag and Rajkot respectively, contributing significantly to India's series victory with a 4-1 result.
During an interview on the Club Praire Fire podcast with Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan, Pant praised Jaiswal's skills and highlighted his dedication to his craft:
“It’s amazing to see how new young members have stepped up to the team over time. He may not perform always, but when he performs, he keeps his head down and focuses on his task at hand. Yashasvi Jaiswal is one such individual who likes to keep his head down and work diligently. If he continues to do so, then he has a long way to go.”
Jaiswal's rapid ascent began when he broke KL Rahul's record for the fastest fifty in IPL history last year. He has since made his debut for India in T20Is and Tests, delivering consistent performances.
Pant was cleared to play wicketkeeper-batsman with Delhi Capitals (DC) in the forthcoming 2024 IPL season. Due to a serious accident, Pant has been sidelined from competitive cricket since December 2022. During his recovery, he was on crutches and steadily on his way to full fitness.
