Rohit Sharma has matched Dinesh Karthik's unfortunate record by getting out for a golden duck against the Rajasthan Royals

Rohit Sharma's first home game in the Indian Premier League 2024 resulted in him equalling Dinesh Karthik's unwanted record. He was dismissed on a golden duck after failing to cover the line of Trent Boult's delivery, resulting in a catch for RR skipper Sanju Samson.

The ball by Boult moved slightly and kissed the edge of Rohit's bat, and Samson took a brilliant one-handed catch behind the stumps. Rohit's premature departure had an impact on the overall batting line-up, resulting in the home franchise scoring only 125 runs in 20 overs. Although Rajasthan lost three early wickets, the chase was never difficult as Riyan Parag, the current Orange Cap holder, scored a half-century to secure victory for the team.

Meanwhile, Rohit has joined Dinesh Karthik in registering the most ducks in the Indian Premier League. With his latest failure, Rohit has recorded 17 ducks and is now joint first with RCB’s Dinesh Karthik.

Although Sharma has made useful contributions in the first two matches against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad, the team has lost both of them

The five-time champions need a collective effort from their players to turn things around quickly. Otherwise, the franchise will end up with the worst season in the history of the league. Mumbai Indians are the only team without a win in the 17th season.
