Mumbai Indians moved up to second place on the WPL points table after defeating UP Warriorz by 42 runs in their return fixture on Thursday. They scored 160 for 6 thanks to contributions from Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amelia Kerr, and Harmanpreet Kaur. Kaur then led her team well to prevent Warriorz from making a comeback, with Saika Ishaque and Sciver-Brunt playing key roles.
Mumbai Indians took three wickets in the first 25 balls of the Warriorz chase, and the latter never quite managed to recover. Deepti Sharma remained unbeaten on 53 off 36 balls while batting at No. 5. The top order faltered with Alyssa Healy, Kiran Navgire, and Chamari Athapaththu aggregating only 13 runs between them.
Mumbai is now only separated from table-toppers Delhi Capitals by net run rate, but the Capitals have a game in hand.
