Sharma and Kohli concluded their T20I careers on a high note

Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who concluded their T20I careers on a high note with a T20 World Cup title win against South Africa. Both players announced their retirement from T20Is after the victory. Tendulkar acknowledged Rohit's evolution from a promising youngster to a World Cup-winning captain, and praised Virat as a champion of the sport who overcame a lean patch to deliver when it mattered the most.

Regarding Virat Kohli, Sachin highlighted his resilience and greatness:

"@imVkohli, you have been a true champion of this sport. You may have had a rough time earlier in the tournament, but last night you proved why you're truly one of the greats of the gentleman's game. Competing in six World Cups and clinching victory in the last one is an experience I know well. I hope to see you continue winning matches for India in the longer formats of the game."

Kohli played a crucial role in the final, scoring 76 runs off 59 deliveries, rescuing India from a precarious position. He finished the tournament with 151 runs in eight innings, including one fifty. Kohli ends his T20I career as the highest run-scorer in T20 World Cup history and the second-highest run-scorer in T20Is, with 4,188 runs at an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 137.04, including one century and 38 fifties.

Rohit Sharma also had a standout performance in the tournament, scoring 257 runs in eight games at an average of 36.71 and a strike rate of over 156, with three half-centuries. He retired as a double T20 World Cup champion, having first won the title in 2007. In his T20I career, Rohit amassed 4,231 runs at an average of 32.05 with a strike rate of over 140, including five centuries and 32 fifties, making him the leading run-scorer in the format.
