Shashi Tharoor, Lok Sabha MP and a big cricket fan, criticised the BCCI's selection committee for their choices in the upcoming Sri Lanka tour squads. He expressed disappointment over the exclusion of Sanju Samson from ODIs and Abhishek Sharma from T20Is. Despite Samson making it to the T20 squad, Abhishek was left out, even after his impressive performance in the recent T20I series against Zimbabwe.
Tharoor took to social media to share his thoughts on the squad selection, questioning the selectors' decisions. He highlighted the lack of importance given to players' success in Indian colours and wished the team well for the tour.
Suryakumar Yadav will lead the Indian team in the T20Is against Sri Lanka, with Shubman Gill as his deputy. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are part of the ODI squad, with Rohit leading the team and Gill serving as vice-captain.
