Shastri hilariously dubbed the game vs NZ as 'Duck Party'

Team India faced one of its worst batting performances at home, getting bowled out for just 46 runs in the first innings of the opening Test against New Zealand on Thursday. Five Indian batters, including star players Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Sarfaraz Khan, were dismissed for ducks, adding to the embarrassment.

Former head coach Ravi Shastri, while commentating on the match, didn't miss the opportunity to take a playful dig at the team. When the dismal scorecard appeared on screen, Shastri humorously dubbed the group of batters as a "duck party." "Five ducks! You’d think there's a duck party happening there," he joked.

Later, as the camera panned to Kohli, Sarfaraz, and Rahul standing in the slips during New Zealand's batting, Shastri again teased them for their ducks. "All three in slips, all out for ducks—unheard of in India," he quipped, referring to the team's lowest score at home.

In the post-match press conference, India captain Rohit Sharma took responsibility for misjudging the pitch. "It hurts to see us bowled out for 46. I made the call on the pitch, and clearly, I misjudged it. You make two or three bad calls a year, and unfortunately, this was one of them," Rohit said.

India's collapse has prompted introspection, but Shastri's light-hearted remarks kept spirits alive despite the disappointment.
