The Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council has not yet revealed the details about the number of player retentions allowed per team or the structure for the upcoming mega auction for the 2025 season. However, it is expected that all franchises will see significant changes. Rumours are already circulating about potential moves, including speculation that Glenn Maxwell might be parting ways with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after he unfollowed the team on Instagram.
Maxwell was brought into the RCB squad ahead of the 2021 auction for an impressive sum of INR 14.25 crores. He had an outstanding season, scoring 513 runs in 15 matches with six half-centuries. His performance secured him a retention the following season for INR 11 crores. Although his form dipped in 2022, where he managed 301 runs in 13 games with only one fifty, he recovered in the next season, accumulating 400 runs in 14 matches with a striking rate of 183.49. However, the 2024 season proved challenging for Maxwell, as he scored just 52 runs in 10 games, marking his lowest output in the IPL.
On Tuesday, rumours about Maxwell's possible departure from RCB gained traction when fans noticed and shared screenshots showing that he had unfollowed the team on Instagram, sparking discussions about his future with the franchise.
