On Tuesday, Team India achieved a 3-0 clean sweep over Sri Lanka in a T20 series, marking the beginning of a new chapter under head coach Gautam Gambhir. The final match, led by Suryakumar Yadav, ended with a thrilling Super Over victory in Pallekele. Following the series win, Suryakumar shared that since the start of the T20 World Cup, players have been encouraged to sit together as a team rather than in smaller groups. He explained that this practice began during the World Cup, regardless of the game’s outcome or individual performances. Suryakumar accentuated that this approach fosters stronger bonds among players, enhancing teamwork and mutual support on the field.
Former Indian cricketers Ajay Jadeja and Ashish Nehra reacted to Suryakumar’s comments with surprise. Jadeja remarked that such team bonding activities should occur naturally in a team sports environment, not as a mandated change. He expressed astonishment that this practice was being discussed as a new concept, questioning whether previous teams did not follow this approach. Nehra, agreeing with Jadeja, also questioned why this initiative had not been implemented earlier.
With the T20I series concluded, India now prepares to face Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series.
