The Orange Cap standings for IPL 2024 have been updated following the PBKS vs RR match

On Saturday, April 13th, Punjab Kings faced Rajasthan Royals at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. Sam Curran led the way for Punjab Kings in place of the injured Shikhar Dhawan, while Atharva Taide came in for Dhawan in the playing XI. Tanush Kotian and Rovman Powell came in for Rajasthan Royals, who were without key players Jos Butler and Ravichandran Ashwin respectively.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to field first. Punjab Kings scored 147-8 in their 20 overs, with Ashutosh Sharma's quickfire 31 off 16 balls being the standout performance. Rajasthan Royals had to chase hard and the match went down to the wire. They needed 10 runs from the last over. Rajasthan Royals secured victory with one ball to spare thanks to Shimron Hetmeyer's explosive innings of 27 off just 10 deliveries, including three sixes and a boundary.

RCB opener Virat Kohli remains the Orange Cap Holder in IPL 2024 with 319 runs in 6 matches. Riyan Parag is behind Kohli with 284 runs. Parag added only 23 runs to his previous total of 261 runs. His RR teammate and captain, Sanju Samson, has replaced Shubman Gill. Samson has made it into the top 3 of the Orange Cap list. Samson scored 18 off 14 deliveries before being dismissed by Kagiso Rabada. As a result of Samson's brief cameo appearance, Shubman Gill has dropped to the fourth position.
