The 2024 Indian Premier League may be split into two legs due to the general elections in India. Officials are currently in Dubai to conduct the second half of the tournament outside the country.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will make a final decision after the Election Commission of India announces the dates for the Lok Sabha Elections at 3 pm on March 16.
A source told TOI:
“The Election Commission of India will announce the election schedule at 3 pm on March 16. After that, the BCCI will decide if the IPL matches should be moved to UAE. The top brass of the Indian Cricket Board is in Dubai to explore the possibility of playing the games in UAE.”

In the past, the IPL has been played in the South and the UAE during election years in India. Meanwhile, the first leg of the 2024 IPL will kick off on 22 March. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore.
