It appears that Mohammed Shami has taken Hardik Pandya's unexpected departure from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians to heart. The renowned fast bowler, who is currently recuperating from surgery, liked a derogatory post about the former GT captain.
The post referred to Shami's participation in the ICC World Cup 2023 despite carrying an ankle injury. The user also made a comment about Hardik, who was forced to withdraw from the tournament midway after sustaining an injury during one of the games against Bangladesh in Pune.
The X (ex-Twitter) user wrote:
“Shami bhai gave his 100 percent even when he was in pain during worldcup, then there is one chapri kalu who shown fake injury to keep himself available for IPL”
Shami expressed his dislike for the all-rounder by liking this post.
Hardik did not play any games after his injury but has recently returned to play for MI in IPL 2024. He will replace Rohit Sharma as captain of the five-time champions and lead them into the new season.
Hardik was Gujarat's captain for two seasons, winning the league in 2022 and reaching the final in 2023. In the last edition, however, GT lost the title to Chennai Super Kings.
Shami enjoyed remarkable success with Gujarat Titans under Hardik's captaincy, winning the Purple Cap in 2023. However, he has been ruled out of the upcoming season and will also miss the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024.
