Unmukt Chand, the captain of India's victorious 2012 U-19 World Cup team, has expressed his disappointment after being left out of the upcoming five-match T20 series against Canada in the USA. After scoring a brilliant century in the final of the U-19 World Cup, Chand was expected to have an illustrious international career for India.
However, he found himself struggling and moved to the USA hoping to reignite his international aspirations. Unmukt Chand was left out of the USA squad for the Canada T20 series despite an impressive run in minor league cricket, where he scored over 1500 runs in three seasons.
The squad included players such as Corey Anderson, India U-19's Harmeet Singh, and former RCB batter Milind Kumar, but Chand failed to make the cut. Chand expressed his disappointment on X.
Irony of life- I keep hearing people cribbing about unfair systems in place and the need for healthy changes but when the same people come to power, they practice the same unjust means too. It’s high time we bring the change within ourselves and stand firm for what’s right 🙏🙏

His place in the T20 World Cup is now in jeopardy. It seems highly unlikely that he will be picked for the World Cup after being omitted from the T20I series against Canada unless selectors have a definitive plan for him.
Chand had previously expressed his desire to play against India when the USA and India will mеet in New York on June 12 for their 2024 T20 World Cup match.
The upcoming tournament has drawn the U.S. national team into the same group as India and Pakistan. The US will commence their campaign against Canada on June 2nd, followed by Pakistan on June 6. They will play India on June 12, and Ireland on June 14.
