Hardik Pandya is a dangerous player when he contributes to both batting and bowling. He has not bowled much since recovering from an ankle injury.
Pandya made a comeback in the Indian Premier League 2024 after suffering an unfortunate injury during the ICC World Cup 2023. As the new captain of Mumbai Indians, he has not used himself as a bowler in all the games.
His batting display has been below par, with bowlers managing to restrict his strokeplay. Irfan Pathan, a former Indian player, does not believe that the Indian team will select him for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 unless he bowls four overs in every match.
“He batting doesn’t give confidence and you can’t take him to the World Cup as a specialist batter. Hardik will have to start bowling in every match and take wickets to play for the Indian team. Hardik has rolled his arm over in a few games.”
Hardik bowled the final over of Chennai Super Kings' innings, and MS Dhoni hit him for three consecutive sixes. The veteran scored an unbeaten 20 runs off just four balls. In the end, MI lost the game by 20 runs, and Hardik's over played a role in his team's defeat.
